Last month I wrote a blog for The Anthropologists about art and activism. It's an article close to me - it's about my artistic beliefs, what I've learned in the last ten years and why I'm the artist I am today. Spoiler alert- the point is that art is more necessary than ever. Climate silence is standing in the way of progress, more than that, we need stories so people can truly connect with climate change on a personal level, we need art to inspire change.

This Changes Everything recommendation

Last year I started reading Naomi Klien's This Changes Everything- a book about Capitalism and the Climate. The thesis being that climate change is so difficult to fight because of how we have built up capitalism and the free market.

What's interesting for me is that, while this book is about climate change (and it's what inspired me to get back into the environmentalism sphere) it's also about finding a more compassionate way of living. It brings together many different issues- human rights and health in addition to land rights and health. The most inspiring message is that the change we make and the actions we take will not only help others but will make our lives better as well. This is something I've recently started to grasp a bit better- that one bit of action towards change helps so many different aspects of the way our world operates.

I highly recommend this book!!

Life, with all it's rules, it's obligations, and it's freedoms is like a sonnet: you're given the form, but you have to write the sonnet yourself.

One problem with the fight against Climate Change is that there isn't enough information out there about what's going on right now with Climate Change and what the real consequences are of our actions on the environment. Here are two great resources that are focused on science based climate information.
